A Real State of the Union

A Real State of the Union

Where America Is Right Now

Whatever the President says in the State of the Union address early next week, here’s what really needs to be said.

A Real State of the Union:

president-obama-announcementSometimes things just don’t add up. They don’t make sense. There’s no way to reconcile them with…well, reality. They are square pegs in a world of round holes.

I recently came across five such troubling facts and questions in current events, and, to make them even more ridiculous, they’re all coming from basically the same place: The current White House.

So here they are. I’ll give a little commentary on them, but not much. They’re pretty self-explanatory. Or, maybe a better way to say this is that they’re all amazingly ridiculous and commentary won’t help.

1. According to the bipartisan Congressional Budget Office, Obamacare (the Affordable Health Care Act) will reduce the number of full-time workers in the U.S. by 2 million over the next ten years.

Seriously?

Yes.

Just think of it: That’s 2 million full-time jobs that are going to be lost simply (and specifically) because of Obamacare.

This begs the question: “Then why do we keep it?”

The next three items come from an unattributed note circulating on social media. I think they’re worth reading:

2. “We are advised to NOT judge all Muslims by the actions of a few lunatics, but we are encouraged to judge ALL gun owners by the actions of few lunatics.”

The White House couldn’t be more inconsistent on these two issues.

(By the way, I side with not judging any group by the actions a few bad apples.)

3. “Why are we cutting benefits for our veterans, no pay raises for our military and reducing the size of our army (too expensive to maintain), but we are not stopping payments or benefits to illegal aliens, or cutting federal aid to foreign countries?”

Cut the foreign aid and massive welfare (across the board, not just to immigrants) and rebuild our security.

4. “Seems we constantly hear about how Social Security is going to run out of money. But we never hear about welfare or food stamps running out of money? What’s interesting is the first group ‘worked for’ their money, but the second didn’t.”

Did government use the money paid for the first group to cover the second?

The last one is just plain jaw dropping:

5. Over the course of many months our President and the White House have repeatedly assured us of two things: (A) ISIS, Al-Qaeda, and Islamic terrorists aren’t much of a threat, and (B) the most pressing priority for our national security is to get more nations to sign environmental treaties.

Talk about fiddling while Rome burns…

The Real Concerns

Together these five amazing attitudes give us a pretty good indication of how our current national leadership is thinking.

What about terrorism? What about the struggling economy? What about the massive over-regulation of business? What about the huge amounts of capital and jobs that are fleeing to other nations? What about serious unemployment (hidden because of the way Washington calculates its statistics)? What about China, Iran, and Putin? What about North Korea, and Syria? What about our skyrocketing national debt? What about…

“Don’t worry,” we’re told. “It’s under control.”

Really?

Where?

Certainly not here in the real world. The truth is that these things are far from “under control.”

I’m an optimist, and I still believe that America’s best years are ahead. But we need to make some major changes—and fast.

Yes…. We need changes fast. I agree. What can I do? I feel like all I can do is VOTE .. but my voice was not heard both times I voted against the current administration.

I will do it if I just knew what to do.

I would be interested in seeing some sources for these “facts”. I would enjoy investigating several of these questions in more depth, and feel that your sources would be the place to start. Thank you.

Thanks for a great article Mr. DeMille! I wish someone – anyone – would just tell the truth and be heard. I know this nation can overcome the obstacles before her if we will just face the truth and move forward.

You speak the truth. You say the things that the administration doesn’t want to hear

    Oliver,
You make some very good points, as usual. I felt that persons comment and dilemma, too. The best thing I can do is learn myself and dive into self education. The only way to make change is to spread the word. People are subject to the wrong information and dare I say propaganda, that dilutes the truth at best. The tactics of guilt, unawareness, or just lack of being on the cool side throw people into ill guided beliefs. Start with The Coming Aristocracy, or The Four Lost American Ideals. Both great reads!

Awesome information from you again! Truth on so many levels. My husband and I are Life Leadership members and I believe you are correct is saying America’s best years are to come. Our country will not be restored by a hands down approach from the government, it will be restored from a hand up approach of the American people. Building freedom one family at a time. #lovelifeleadership

Excellent Article Mr. DeMille! Must we all be as single voices crying in the wilderness while the masses cry out, “Give us more games and bread!”? In the words of Patrick Henry, “Forbid it, almighty God!” We can unite in one chorus and make a stand. Our votes are good and I duty of every citizen under the constitution, but what good are they if our neighbors in the next state, county, town, or down the street are voting based only on popularity, how they look on stage, or the sound bites the media echo to the masses?

Well, Cecilia, here’s an idea. As they say, what you don’t know can hurt you, but knowledge is only power if is used with wisdom. You obviously are actively engaged in knowing, learning, and doing the right things. The next step, while still doing this, is sharing what you’ve learned and are learning with others. Some will listen and some will not. That’s life, and the freedom to choose is everyone’s inalienable right. Use the law of averages in your favor and remember, the goal is not to change their position but to inform. With an open mind, it’s hard to argue against the truth, but to have an open mind, one must be willing to listen, and that requires influence. I’d suggest starting with those you already have influence with. From there starts the domino effect. Each one to reach one until one becomes two, two become a family, a family becomes a community and the right kind of community becomes a force to be reckoned with. We didn’t get here overnight, and it’s not going to be an overnight fix. Stay the course, stay consistent, stay hopeful, and your little domino over time can change the course of the nation. Thank you again, Mr. DeMille, for reminding me of this in your “We hold these truths to be self-evident” book.

Cecilia, I understand your concern and feelings of helplessness. I, too, once felt that way, but I now have hope. This hope comes from an organization called LIFE Leadership, in which Oliver has played a very important role. LIFE Leadership utilizes Oliver’s books to teach the principles of freedom, and he has come to our conventions to speak about it several times. LIFE is committed to changing our country one person, one family at a time through education.I encourage you to check it out.
